Our Doctors
Dr Caroline Wright
MBChB (Otago), FRNZCGP, Dip Child Health, PGDipMedSci (Palliative Care)
Hi, I’m Caroline. Originally from a farming background in South Canterbury, I graduated from Otago Medical School in 2009 and have since gone on to do further study in child health (Diploma of Child Health), Palliative Care (Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Sciences) and attained my fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) in 2017. I enjoy the wide variety that General Practice brings, and working in a small and fantastic team.
Outside of work, my husband and I have two young children and enjoy spending time in the great outdoors (particularly water sports), walking our Labrador and cooking.
Dr Dinah Kohner
MA(Cantab), MBBS(London), MRCP(UK), FRNZCGP, Dip Pall Care (RNZCP)
I love working in Nelson City Medical Centre because we are a small friendly team, who work together to provide excellent care for our patients. Before I was a GP I spent about ten years working in hospital general medicine, cancer medicine and palliative care. I have always had a special interest in how our thoughts and feelings influence our health and have done some extra training in counselling. I believe good health can be found by care for all aspects of ourselves, diet and nutrition, exercise, mental health and good medical care.
I was born in Northern Ireland and studied medicine at Cambridge University. I worked in various hospitals in Southern England, before moving to New Zealand 15 years ago.
I have a Kiwi husband and two adventurous Kiwi kids! In my spare time, I love to mountain bike, ski and tramp. I also aim for a regular yoga and meditation practice.
Dr Katie Maver
MBBS Hons (UTAS), FRNZCGP, PG Cert Women’s Health (Otago)
I graduated from the University of Tasmania School of Medicine in 2007. After working in hospitals in Australia and New Zealand I started my GP training in New Zealand in 2012 gaining Fellowship of the Royal NZ College of GPs in 2015. My interests include maternal and child health (including breastfeeding issues), skin cancer medicine and minor surgery. I have a special interest in early skin cancer detection (dermoscopy) and treatment and I have completed advanced training this area making me an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.
Outside of work I keep busy with my Husband and two young children.
Our Team
Bobbie Hutton – Practice Nurse
RGON, BN, PG Dip. Healthcare
I am originally from Canterbury and moved to Nelson in 2009. I have been a nurse since 1979 and worked in hospitals and community settings in a number of centres in NZ and overseas. I enjoy the variety of working with people of all ages and stages of life; promoting positive health messages and helping them with their challenges and sharing their celebrations. I pride myself on being approachable, honest and supportive. I welcome people to come in and discuss what is going on for them; getting help early can often mean better health in the long run.

I have been working in Medical Administration for over 10 years now. I also do administrative duties behind the scenes here at Nelson City Medical to ensure the practice runs smoothly.
I love working in a smaller practice and enjoy the variety of work that this gives me.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors and taking my wee dog for walks; the beach is a favourite.

I have been a Medical Receptionist here for just over 4 years. I really enjoy working in this friendly, family Practice, as the role is so varied. (Never a dull day!)
I emigrated from the UK in 2010 to the beautiful West Coast, spending 5 years there before moving to the Tasman area.
I am very proud to say I became a New Zealand Citizen in 2018.
The activities I enjoy the most are cycling, walking and making the most of the wonderful countryside and coastline that this lovely area has to offer.
